Apple Rumored to Launch 27-inch Mini-LED Display in Q1 2023

Apple plans to release an external monitor with a 27-inch mini-LED display in the first quarter of 2023, according to Ross Young, analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

In a tweet shared with super followersYoung said Apple had “pushed back” the monitor’s debut to Q1 2023. Young is presumably talking about the first calendar quarter of 2023, which is January through March.

Young was the guest of the MacRumors podcast in July where he said that Apple plans to launch the mini LED display in early 2023. Young initially expected Apple to show off the display in June at WWDC, but he said in May that the launch was to be delayed until October due to design delays. Apple is also unable to meet the October target, and Young believes the company is now aiming for 2023.

Throughout 2022, Apple has faced supply constraints on products that include Macs and its displays, which may be the reason for the delay.

Apple’s next display is said to feature mini-LED technology as well as ProMotion support, enabling a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The device is not expected to directly replace the Pro Display XDR, which is a larger 6K screen. Rather, it will be similar to the Apple Studio Display, which is a 27-inch monitor.

With ProMotion support and mini-LED technology, the rumored 27-inch screen is expected to be more expensive than the Studio Display, which starts at $1,599.
