There’s plenty of football action Monday night across Europe’s top leagues to get your teeth into. We’ll start in Italy, where Fiorentina will host a tricky side from Lazio, who have won three straight league wins before the game. Then at 8pm Nottingham Forest take on Aston Villa in the Premier League, with the home side seeking their first league win in six games.

We are also interested in the Spanish La Liga, where Elche face Mallorca, and in Portugal, while Famalicão travels to play in Arouca at the bottom of the Primeira Liga. Let’s move on to betting…

Television: BT Sport 1

Lazio have enjoyed a very strong start to the Serie A season, collecting a respectable 17 points from eight games, which leaves them three behind league leaders Napoli. That comeback included a win over Inter Milan at home, with the Rome-based side sitting above both Milan sides and heavyweights Juventus and Roma.

In fourth, Lazio are also above eleventh-placed Fiorentina, who have won just two wins so far this season. But while their away form has been very poor, at home their eight points from four games include draws with Juventus and Napoli.

So the bet we’re betting is a double chance for Lazio – they haven’t lost on the road yet this season, while Fiorentina have a knack for scoring when they host stronger opposition.

Television: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Steve Cooper’s Forest needs to start scoring again. They didn’t look too bad against Leicester until the Foxes scored but were then dismantled afterwards.

Villa under Steven Gerrard have been pretty indifferent this season. The less said about their 0-0 draw last time out the better, but they have picked up five points from their last three games, including one at home to City.

The home side in this one have scored 18 goals in their last five games – including three at Bournemouth (who have scored just three more goals this season). So, despite Villa’s less than impressive attacking record this season, there should still be goals in this game – more than 2.5 of them.

The La Liga table doesn’t make for pleasant reading for Elche. At their lowest, with just one point after seven games, having scored three goals and conceded 18. Perhaps the only consolation they can find heading into Monday night’s game is that their only point this season was a 1-1 draw at home.

Mallorca have eight points from their seven games so far this season, including four from their three away games, after beating Rayo Vallecano and picking up a point at Bilbao on matchday one. We support Mallorca, twelfth, to beat the last.

These two teams are separated by two points after the first eight games of the Portuguese first division, but find themselves above the relegation places. Arouca sits in a slightly more comfortable 13th place but has picked up just three points in their last five games – including two draws in their last two games.

Famalicão had struggled this season but picked up a surprise 4-0 win at home to Boavista last time out. However, that can’t mask their struggles on the road this season, picking up just one point from their four away matches. BTTS haven’t come through this season for the away team which informs our bet for this encounter.

We’re going for Arouca to win zero for this one, with Famalicão are yet to score away this season and are encouraged by Arouca, who have scored in their last three games, and will look to find their way back to winning ways in this one.
