Kerry Katona has revealed her late ex-husband George Kaye beat her every day during their relationship – even trying to strangle her while driving.

Opening up about the extent of the horrific abuse, the former Atomic Kitten member detailed the traumatic time in his new memoir – named Kerry Katona: Whole Again.

The TV personality, 42, married George in 2014 after two years of dating, before splitting a year later – with the former rugby league player dying suddenly in 2019 after eating “an amount of cocaine “.

Kerry and George have split amid a spate of shocking allegations of domestic violence and drug abuse in the marriage – which she previously revealed left her feeling ‘worthless’.

And in more detail about the horrific ordeal in her new book, Kerry recalled an incident where her ex tried to strangle her on a road trip – even pulling her out of the vehicle.

In quotes obtained by The Sun, she wrote: ‘I could barely breathe and honestly thought I was done with it, when he released his grip, pulled over, opened the passenger side door and m dragged out of the car by the hair.

“I fell, my head hit the door. He spat on me, got back in the car and drove off.

And explaining her reasoning behind the attack, Kerry noted that she told her a funny story of musician Bryan Adams urging her to ‘eat your greens’, reeling the anecdote after seeing one of his CDs during of a home visit where they were.

‘I tell the story to George and the owner, I had this big plate of vegetables in front of me and I didn’t feel like it, but Bryan kept squeezing me into his fantastic Canadian sled, ‘Eat them , you have to eat your vegetables!’ she remembers.

Continuing to write, “And then Bryan Adams fed me broccoli with a fork,” I proudly told George and that random owner.

“There was nothing sexual or romantic about this moment with Bryan. It was just a pleasant exchange between two people who had just met and got along – in front of their loved ones.

“But George didn’t see it that way. We quickly left the house tour, got in the car and as we drove off he had one hand on the steering wheel and one around my neck,’ Kerry wrote of the heartbreaking experience.

Kerry welcomed daughter Dylan-Jorge in April 2014 with George, and detailed in the book how her late ex beat her even while she was pregnant.

“Even though my stomach was growing, he was pushing, kicking and spitting in my face. Soon after, he was apologizing, telling me how much he loved me, and gently letting me know that it was all my fault for pushing his buttons. And then I’ll be the one to apologize,” she wrote.

The star, who is mother to daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue with singer Brian McFadden, Heidi, 13, and Max, 12, with ex-husband Mark Croft, and Dylan-Jorge with George, is now engaged to the fitness instructor Ryan Mahoney,

But despite being in love with her fiancé, whom she met five years ago on the dating app Bumble, the star has suffered lifelong trauma from George’s abuse.

The couple officially divorced in 2017, after meeting as teenagers at school and beginning a romance years later.

George died inside a Holiday Inn in Cheshire, where he crushed a ball of cocaine into a sock and ‘ate’ the contents, an inquest has heard after his death.
