Graham Norton married this year in his native Ireland so his 90-year-old mother could attend her nuptials.

The 59-year-old TV star, who is said to be worth £24million, had a lavish party in her native West Cork in July with 120 guests in attendance, including her beloved parent Rhoda Walker, as he said “yes” to his partner.

During an appearance on Australian TV show The Project, Graham said: ‘I got married this year and we had our wedding party near where my mum lives in Ireland just so she can come.

“She wouldn’t have been well enough to come to London, so it was West Cork. And that made me very happy.

Guests partied at the four-star Bantry House venue as they celebrated their union with a private party, with the venue closed to the public.

Singer Lulu reportedly performed and the site reports that drag queen Panti Bliss performed a DJ set.

Lulu herself shared some photos of herself strolling through the beautiful gardens on Instagram at the time.

And Graham said he was enjoying married life: “It’s been good so far, it would be awful if it wasn’t at this point, just a few months later, I’d like to think even I could manage a few months.”

“I’m part of that generation of gays who thought it would never be on the cards. So, one, it’s amazing that it could happen, I mean, I never gave up hope of finding this one- If it was a surprise, it was a pleasant surprise.

Lavish: According to the website, Bantry House and Garden is a stately home on the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking Bantry Bay in the southwest of Ireland.

The broadcaster remains private about his current relationship, but he dated Trevor Patterson from 2011 to 2013.

He then dated music marketing consultant Andrew Smith, from whom he split in 2015.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror in 2015, Graham admitted he didn’t think he would ever get married, saying he thought it would be easier to find someone if he was straight: “It will sound sexist but that doesn’t mean it’s any less true.

“If I were a straight man, my female partner would have a role in the eyes of society. She would be the mother of my children, my hostess, the person on my arm at red carpet events. She would have a definite function. .

“But that’s not the case if your partner is a man. Every man – no matter how young or fairy – has something of the alpha in him.
