Rumored Google Pixel 7 spec sheet hints at marginal upgrades over Pixel 6

Now that we know exactly when the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are due to be fully detailed and (most likely) released for pre-order, as well as when they could start shipping and for how much, all that remains to be revealed before October 6th are…the specs for Google’s next big thing.

While things were obviously leaked or (indirectly) confirmed by the search giant itself weeks or even months ago, Yogesh Brar boldly tries today to create an (almost) complete spec sheet for the smaller and cheaper of the next two Android-powered handsets.

Dude, where are my updates?

…that’s what future Pixel 7 owners coming from the 6.4-inch Pixel 6 may (rightly) wonder once they ditch their “old” device and start using the “new” .

The truth is, you probably won’t notice much of a difference if you make this change, but luckily for Google, there are a lot of fish in the sea of smartphone users who didn’t buy the Pixel 6 or 6 Pro and might be tempted to opt for the Pixel 7 or 7 Pro this fall over the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro from Apple or Galaxy S22 series flagships from Samsung.
Whether the The Pixel 7 is indeed expected to cost $599+ in the US, the following specs could make it a bargain for many people:
  • 6.3-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate capabilities
  • Google Tensor G2 processor
  • Titan security chip
  • 50MP main rear camera + 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter
  • 11MP single selfie shooter
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 128/256 GB storage options
  • Android 13 out of the box
  • Battery 4700 mAh (approx.)
  • 30W fast charging support
  • Wireless charging
  • Stereo speakers
  • Bluetooth LE connectivity
Compared to the Pixel 6, this very reasonably priced top of the line should basically feature an improved front camera, a slightly bigger battery (maybe) and a slightly smaller screen (likely with unchanged pixel count and refresh rate technology ).
By the way, the selfie shooter should be borrowed from the superior Pixel 6 Pro, which is certainly good news. But will that be enough to make the Pixel 7 shine in today’s high-end smartphone landscape? As implausible as it may seem, we think the answer to this question could be yes. if and only if Google manages to do a better job control bugs than last year… and earlier this year.
It would also certainly help if the second-generation Tensor SoC turned out to be significantly more powerful than its predecessor, which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the case. based on the first benchmarks. Yes, raw speed will apparently be improved, but not enough to give Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Apple’s A15 Bionic beasts a hard time.

And the Pixel 7 Pro?

Alas, we don’t have anything new to report on Google’s giant next-gen flagship, but based on what we “know” now about the Pixel 7 and a number of older rumours, we can probably make at least a few decent educated guesses.

An upgrade from an already generous 12GB of RAM is obviously unlikely, as is a battery capacity of more than around 5,000mAh. On the rear, the ultra-high-end Pixel 7 Pro will likely adopt a very similar triple-camera system comprised of 50MP main, 48MP telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensors as the Pixel 6 Pro, and at least for now, there’s also no word on the big changes for the 11MP selfie snapper.

All in all, we really don’t expect the Pixel 7 Pro to be any different from the 6 Pro in terms of specs, just $899+ with a $200 gift card included at least from a major retailer. American. at launch, its value for money could totally wipe out the competition just in time for the holiday shopping season.
