Only 1,580 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and RSR 2.7 were produced, in a range of 27 vibrant colors reminiscent of the 1970s, two of which were selected for TAG Heuer tribute watches: Indischrot (Guards Red) and Glasurblau (Glazier Blue).
The new TAG Heuer Carrera chronographs
The limited edition watches are based on the TAG Heuer Carrera 42mm chronograph with its elegant tri-compax layout, chronograph minute and hour counters at 3 and 9 o’clock and a permanent seconds indicator and date window at 6 hours. Similar to the mighty Porsche 911 Carrera, TAG Heuer equipped its first chronograph with its most advanced movement, the in-house Heuer Caliber 02, with an exceptional 80-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement’s oscillating weight is customized to represent Porsche’s three-spoke steering wheel and bears the logos of the two partners side by side.
The Sporty Blue Edition is limited to 500 pieces, marked with a limitation number. The finely polished steel case, rhodium-plated indexes and hour and minute hands recall the car’s chrome door handles, mirrors and window frames. The dial is in smooth white opaline, while the two sub-dials have an eye-catching azure finish.
Seamlessly integrated design codes
Porsche design codes are seamlessly integrated throughout the TAG Heuer piece, with a blue lacquered chronograph and central hands, blue lacquered push-buttons and shield logo on the crown, and blue markings on the weight oscillating wheel of Caliber Heuer 02. The design of the right sub-dial recalls the aesthetic of wheel rims, and the signature color band and Carrera logo make a bold statement on the dial, rim, side of the case and bracelet.
The Sporty Red Edition is even more limited, with just 250 pieces, marked XXX/250. The refined case is in 18-carat 5N pink gold, as are the crown, the pushers and the screwed back in sapphire.
